This was a piece that I did a year ago this past October - it was one of those paintings that was framed and put into a show before I had the time to take a picture of it. I really liked this little piece so when I was swapping out frames for the next show I photographed it. Just wanted to see it up on the blog.
I love the porch of this rented cottage, and just sitting there watching people bicycle by while listening to the ocean waves a block away. Now that it's winter and the temp hasn't gone above 15 F for a week makes this a more special memory. That and the fact that we went at that time for my daughter's birthday - she has grown to love Edisto Island.

Gary, this is lovely! Such crisp shadows and the chair just glows with sunlight! This is what I want to paint like when I grow up. Good luck on your show.
Wonderful purple shadows. And blues shadows and black shadows. So calm and warm.
Is this a painting or a photograph!!?? :)

Gorgeous. I was immediately struck by those purple shadows. I imagine the chair was tricky to get right but of course you managed it.
I really like this piece Gary. The colours caught my eye in the little thumbnail on my blog and now the shadows pull me in. The shapes are wonderful.
What a great piece!
Such a tranquility that comes through this piece, Gary. I love the whole idea of it but my eyes just can't leave the tree through the window! Beautiful work, as always.
You never cease to amaze me.
Lucky for us you you swapped out frames and we get to see Sea Six Cottage! A sensitive and colorful painting! I want to sit in that chair and listen to the ocean! Wonderful shadows!
Wonderful command of the light. Great painting.
Incredible painting. I love the range of colors. Beautiful!
Visually magnetic.
If I got any closer...my shadow would be in the painting(!), it's that convincing.
ah...the waiting chair. An evocative subject. Why do some chairs seem so much like friends...this one certainly does. A first rate painting!
I've always loved paintings of empty chairs and strong shadows draw me into a painting. This has both. Great job!
This is beautiful, I'm glad you managed to get it online eventually. The shadows are brilliant with their purples nad blues...great stuff!
Thanks Caroline!
This is one of my favorites on your blog.
